This was an interesting assignment, to use letters of my name; each letter from a separate typeface family, and the letters not to be recognizable, but creating something new. Using the letters as building blocks or shapes and remove their association to text or words, or even your name. This was fun to dive into. I was free to break free of the everyday constructs of my name, and reimagine how the letters can become something new and interesting. This is a good reminder that you, yourself can stop, step back and reflect where you are in life, and if there are things you are not satisfied with, it is ok to make a change.

Piece 1

Soft lines, with dominate forms. There is a strong presence and voice, with some openness and flexibility.
Piece 2

Window. There is form, shape, shadow. These shapes create form, depth, paths for the eyes to travel. It is built and functions.
Piece 3

All together now. Closeness, can create openness. Shapes can be unique and stick out, while also being part of the whole. There is wiggle room, while maintaining a form.
Piece 4

Block. Parsed out. There are four distinct areas, however they are all united, and each doing its own thing. Each is unique, and they are all working together to create the entire whole form.
Piece 5

Music. Notes on a page, can seem like jumbled gibberish to those that do not know how to read music, and can be seen as a soaring melody to one who is trained.
